Statement (88)
I create art that incorporates cultural and aesthetic concepts such as Japanese death poems, Roman epitaphs and mosaics, Buddhist philosophy and pre-Columbian art. This melting pot of anthropological exchange between eastern, pre-colombian and western influences take the form of paintings, sculptures, installations and interdisciplinary work.
My work explores antiquity, recontextualizing imagery, text and forms. I use found materials such as discarded wooden furniture, crates and pallets with traditional mediums such as oils, canvas, wax and graphite.
